Slam poems

These creative writing workshops are designed to complement the Spoken Word Open Mic nights. They are for writers at all stages in their development and they are a chance to learn some new writing techniques, try out new material and get some honest and supportive feedback. The focus this month is on writing slam poems.

A night for poets, storytellers, songwriters and all those that love a lyric. Come and perform at the open mic or relax and watch performances. This month’s guests are Ron Baker and Sarah Fiske. We also have a special appearance from Newcastle based performing poet and artist Claire Morgan with an extract from her new one woman show Editor.


Half term Special – One off page to stage workshops  Off the Mic!Thursday 16thFebruary, 10.30-12.30 and 1.30-3.30. £5.

This workshop is for young writers who want to perform their original writing rather than just reading it from the page. We’ll look at theatrical techniques, using voice and movement and how to connect with your audience. Book for the morning or afternoon session or stay all day – either way the ticket is £5.

Don’t miss this month’s guest the amazing and inspiring poet Chanje Kunda. Chanje Kunda performs nationally and internationally. Some of her prominent performances include features at The Royal Albert Hall London, Calabash Literature Festival Jamaica, Royal Exchange
